    The Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University owns more t works of art. As part of its mission, the Nasher Museum created this online database to make its collections accessible to a wide audience. This is an ongoing project, so please check back periodically to browse new entries. Some data may change as a result of ongoing research. Parking at the Nasher is metered; the Duke University rate is currently $2 per hour. We will use the modern and contemporary exhibitions at Duke University’s Nasher Museum of Art as the basis for this course. We will alternate between classroom and gallery spaces, considering some of the broader art movements that have informed the art on.

    The Sarah P. Duke Gardens and the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University will present a free Community Open House Saturday, Ap with music and family-oriented garden and art activities.. Three storytellers at the open house will be featured in collaboration with the North Carolina Festival of the Book, to be held on the Duke campus and in Durham April Adjunct Assistant Professor of Art, Art History & Visual Studies Overview. Julia K. McHugh, Ph.D., is the Trent A. Carmichael Curator of Academic Initiatives at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University. In this position, she develops exhibitions and interdisciplinary collaborations with Duke faculty, students, and staff at the Nasher Museum.

Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University I’m very excited to have this opportunity to lead the Nasher Museum into the future. Our foundation is quite strong, thanks to the bold vision of our previous directors, Kim Rorschach and Sarah Schroth, and our talented and dedicated museum staff.

This book documents the genesis and design of the new museum, which opened on October 2, The building is named in honor of the family of Raymond D. Nasher, an internationally prominent art collector who graduated from Duke in Format: Paperback. The Collection Galleries feature rotating installations of the Nasher Museum’s extensive holdings of historical art.

Eight galleries, as well as the entrance to Wilson Pavilion, are dedicated to the museum’s strengths, which represent a brief history of human creativity from different times and parts of the world. This book is a gift to Duke University Libraries from the Nasher Museum of Art, and will remain in Lilly through the spring semester.

With the rise of e-books and readers, one of the most uncommon and increasingly rare printed formats is the folio book, defined by one student as, “too damn large to carry.”. With an essay by art historian Annabel Jane Wharton, a design statement by museum architect Rafael Viñoly, a foreword by museum namesake Raymond D.

Nasher, and photos by Brad Feinknopf and Jerry Blow, this book documents the building that will become a cornerstone for cultural activities for the university and the public. The Nasher Museum Store is closed to the public temporarily until further notice.
